A Tragedy Tangled Up In A Dream
This looping video was created for Duke & Duck's animated rally for reproductive rights, "Our bodies, Our Choice, Our Voice."
This piece came out of a conversation I had with a dear friend, who lives in a trigger ban state and found out she was pregnant a few days after the overturn of Roe v Wade. The imagery references common symbols of birth, fertility, abundance, grief, and loss. The speaker is a healthcare worker who understands the gravity of being banned from accessing comprehensive healthcare in this high risk time of pregnancy, and mourns the loss of that right even with her wanted pregnancy.
The animation was screened in the Dupont Underground space in Washington D.C. in 2022.
